Whitehead peels back the horror of systematic racism on a vulnerable population within a vulnerable population - black youth in 20th century America.
If empathy can vaccinate against oppression, then everyone should read this really very great and important book, especially in a time where neo-nationalism is rearing its dumb ugly white head and threatening to take the world down these cruel, twisted, tragic dark paths all over again.
