Flash book review: The ROAD by Cormac McCarthy
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
So sparse, so bleak. Where is hope in a dead world seemingly without beauty or purpose? Good question...McCarthy doesn't provide any easy answers in this road trip from/to hell. His prose delivers something that knocks you on your ass, the force of the story and how beautifully and simply it is told. It's somehow thick and ropey this prose, it winds its way around and inside you like hot dirty tar.
In this way he paints a dense, sad, frozen, lawless world where acts of kindness become its most valuable currency.
This is my first McCarthy. It won't be the last.
