Flash book review: The Anthologist by Nicholson Baker
 The Anthologist by Nicholson Baker
The Anthologist by Nicholson BakerMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
'Poetry is a young man's game,' Baker writes here, quoting another poet, via the poet at the centre of this novel, Paul Chowder. Do minor poets become anthologists when they grow up? Maybe. Some. Whatever. It's not so bad.
Here, Baker's doubt-ridden but lovable Chowder emerges triumphant with a swag of poems and warmwitty exploratory dives into the forms of his loving craft, his processes and life, that wobbly raft.
What was the best moment of my day? Chancing upon this in the library. Bravo !
